Screen printing is among the oldest and most versatile means of applying graphics to objects.
In screen printing, a stencil is created and laid over, or coated onto a fine screen mesh attached to a rigid frame. The media to be printed is placed onto the press and ink is poured onto the screen. A squeegee pulls the ink across screen, forcing it through the stencil thereby transferring the image to the media. This process is repeated for each required color, each using a different screen.
Screen printing is ideal for printing medium to large runs of virtually any size part onto almost any flat media. Almost any color can be matched and the colors are rich, dense, and vibrant.

Flexography has become the standard means of printing large runs of full-color roll labels or tags.
In flexographic printing, flexible polymer plates with raised image areas are wrapped around metal cylinders. Ink is transferred from a pan roll to an analox, or “metering”, roll, and then onto the plate. This configuration is repeated for each desired color. A roll of media is spooled through the press where each color is printed in sequence and in register.
Flexo labels can foiled or embossed and even rotary screen printed in-line.
At the end of the press, labels are die-cut and rewound.

In traditional hot-stamping, an image is engraved onto an aluminum plate.
The plate is heated and pressed against a “foil” and into contact with the substrate, transferring the image from the plate to the substrate. The foil may be metallic, silver or gold for example, or it may be any of a variety of solid colors. Hot-stamping can also be used to simultaneously emboss the substrate. Other stations on the hot-stamping press can overlaminate and die-cut the part.
Cellotape has taken this process one step further. With a thermal transfer printer mounted to the front end of the press, we are able to add variable data, like barcodes and sequential numbers, to the part, permitting us to efficiently produce serial number and barcode labels with a solid color foil background including, if desired, your logo.

Precision cut vinyl is an excellent way to display text and graphic images on banners, signs, vehicles, and trade show panels.
Using a roll stock vinyl, the material is cut on a plotter that reads the graphics image from a workstation. The vinyl is cut to the liner and then the excess is weeded out. An application transfer tape is then applied which allows only the vinyl graphics to be applied to the surface of the substrate. The vinyl stock comes in a vast array of colors which eliminates the printing stage. Multiple colors of vinyl can be applied to the substrate which results in a crisp and colorful finished product.

Our manufacturing facility here at Cellotape is set up to do large format digital printing, vinyl graphics, custom routing, and assembly. In short, we are primed to be a major supplier of all marcom and trade show products
Our Large format digital printer has UV lamps installed on both sides of the carriage, to cure (dry) the ink right at the print head and allow higher production speeds with bidirectional printing.
Capable of printing 6-colors plus white or clear and using UV curable ink that is free of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds). It is less odorous and thus ensures a cleaner working environment.

Thermal transfer printers use ribbons, coated on one side with a wax, resin, or combination of the two.
The ribbons are fed between “thermal print heads,” described below, and a substrate to be imaged.
Thermal print heads are comprised of a linear array of tiny resistive heating elements (100-300 per inch) that are arranged perpendicular to the paper flow. Each print head element locally heats an area below it. This heat melts the wax or resin coated onto the ribbon below, transferring the image to the substrate underneath. The small size of these elements gives us the ability to print the very fine detail required for bar codes.

Cellotape has the ability to place RFID transponders under pre-printed labels.
This technology works with transponders in accordance with ISO specifications, in widths from 10 mm to 160 mm. Pre-printed labels with widths from 10 mm to 160 mm can be applied at rates from 5,000 to 20,000 labels per hour. On-board RFID readers ensure the readability of each RFID tag before and after integration, and an automatic control system keeps transponders and printed labels in register.
Using only one vendor to print your labels and insert your transponders allows for a cost-effective RFID solution.

In addition to conventional die cutting, trimming, laminating, sheeting, and slitting. Cellotape has digital laser converting capabilities and CNC Routing.
Cellotape’s 500 watt CO2 Laser utilizes moving mirrors that steer the beam at speeds up to 200″ per second. Using EPS source files, CCD cameras enable “Vision System” software to hold up to +/- .003 tolerance.
In production environment, laser converting is the economical choice for prototypes, short runs and quick turn-around jobs, as there is virtually no ‘up-front’ cost associated with machine tools making and storage.
Routing & Engraving
Our CNC router has a 30″ by 24″ work envelope and cutting speeds up to 250″ per minute. This versatile machine is capable of cutting, engraving and routing parts of various materials up to a 1″ standard thickness. Standard cutting tools are available however, cutting tools can also be ordered for specific material applications.
